Local

We believe that local missions is a key part of the calling of the church. Christ made it clear in his final directive that we are supposed to be purposeful in living out and declaring the Gospel to the areas in which we live - our own “backyards.” We are called to love, serve and do our best to meet the needs of every person we come in contact with, and we have more opportunities to do that with people locally than we do with people on the other side of the globe. We just need to be intentional about doing it! Many of the needs that we attempt to meet through our global missions program also exists in Central Oregon…they are simply better hidden.

We have a responsibility to try to find those needs and meet them whether they are physical, mental, emotional, socio-economic or spiritual. We also believe in not needing to “reinvent the wheel.” We do not see the need to create our own programs to meet the needs of those in our local area if there are already great local organizations doing it! Instead, we can collaborate with them, rely on their expertise, support the work that they are already doing and have a much greater impact on our community than if we started our own program. However, if there is a need we believe is not being met, we will do our best to meet it through our own efforts.
